Here's an excerpt from the Lincs. Yeomanry diary of the next few months (the photo is the Lincs. Yeomanry in the Middle East):
20/11 Arrived at Alexandria 10:30 am. Disembark followed by marching order parade.

15/12 Regimental drill. Parade for field firing.
24/12 Regimental drill parade at 7:45 followed by recon of Kalanisha District South East of the Bahu-el-Nazla.
3/1 Brigade 8 am leave Deir-el-azab to Tamia. D squadron Linc yeo and Linc yeomary machine gun section formed advanced guard. Heavy rain during night. Bivouacs prepared and outpost posted.
4/1/16 left Tamia for De-el-azam. Heavy rain. Roads in very bad condition.
15/1/16 General Sir John Maxwell commanding the force in Egypt paid a visit of inspection to the camp.
18/1 Brigade board held to decision on amount of compensation due to officers of 1/1 lincs who sustained loss of equipment cause by sub attack.
So as you can see there was a lot of drilling and patrolling. They spent 12 months in Egypt and according to accounts I read it was sometimes rather boring. There would have been leave of course and a chance to tour Cairo and the pyramids.
