Shades of Slade

The Slade Page

This is it. An unofficial collection of Slades on the internet. Doctors, artists, writers, bus drivers ... proof that we Slades can do anything ... become anyone we want: we can climb the highest mountains, leap the tallest buildings, think the biggest concepts, build the ... well you get the picture. Here are just a few of the Slades I've found.

Slade: The Name

Slade is a locational name (as in it describes a location) that originally meant "one who dwelt in the valley." Derived from the Old English "slaed" = valley.

Early historical example:
Saberne de la Slade, 1255, Feet of Fines, Essex.

Slade: The Links

Anne Slade

This is one of the world's most talented Cowboy Poets. Winner of many awards. Brilliant, wise, thoughtful and...okay she's my mother. But go check out her home page.

eazi-k: A rocking band full of Slade's

This band from the Rock of Gibraltar features Earnest Henry Slade, an IT manager for a law firm and a mean guitar/bass player, His singing sister Zoe (Slade) Torres, and keyboardish brother Keeran Mark Slade. Guess we know now why they call it the "rock" of Gibraltar. Visit their home page. They also have an mp3.com page. Hey do you guys cover "Cum on Feel The Noize"?

Terri Lynn Slade of Northern California

Terry is yet another amazing Slade - she dances - she sings - she drums! She performs in the World of "World Music" - a darn fine multipercussionist. She just moved from LA to Auburn, California. These are Terri Lynn's very own words: "it's very beautiful up here - I needed cleaner air to breath, I thought it a grand idea to keep breathing for awhile. I have a famous grand dad - Herbert Slade "the half breed" or "the Maori" , you know the boxer. He came from New Zealand in the 1800's - and I am looking for any ancestors that live in New Zealand. Herbert's father was in the Royal Navy and went to NZ and ended up marrying some princess from what Maori tribe I have no idea (that's what I am trying to find out)." Anyone who can help, drop her a line.

Henry Slade IV

Henry has been a stay-at-home father for 15 years who went back to college to get his teaching credentials, which he earned in Dec. 2000. He is now a substitute teacher for grades kindergarten through 5th in elementary schools in Encinitas, California. (That's in north San Diego County.) Hey, what happened to Henry I, II and III. We all know what happened to Henry VIII, don't we?

Visit his site at www.geocities.com/mrslade4

Fidler & Pepper: a law firm peppered with Slades

This must be one of the best law firms in the world. Everywhere you turn there's a Slade--Tony Slade, the wise, elder statesman--Mark Slade, the brilliant, dashing, Webmaster and the young, tenaciously talented Matt Slade. Hey, there's even pictures of them. I trust these guys. And I want to know who Mark's dentist is. Man, that's some smile.

Art Slade

Do you ever think you're talking to yourself? I got this note from Art Slade:

"No great news but since Arthur Slade has been around New Hampshire since the 1730's and before, was friends with Royal Gov. Wentworth and Royal Secretary of State Atkinson (Although he and Atkinson had a major falling out over ship building materials and the loggers) Art's name and date of death are preserved on a large silver tray in the NH historical society. His son Benjamin named I suspect after the Royal Governor tried twice to have a son Arthur only to have them die early. Curious about this contact me for further details.
Art Slade"

Neat eh?

Karen (Slade) Graham

Karen dropped me a line to tell me that:

"My Dad, is Robert Jackson (Jack) Slade, from Salmon Cove, Newfoundland and my brother Bob, is Robert Douglas Slade, born in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Bob currentlyresides in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario and my Dad lives in Brampton, Ontario. Slade is also a very popular Newfoundland name. I hope to bring your site to their attention. Thanks Karen (Slade) Graham Brampton, Ontario."

Mark Slade

Okay, I'm not sure what everything on this page means, but it's got a dash of "slade" cool to it. Check out The Slade Page.

Alan Slade

This is just a guess, but I think Alan likes Disney. Just a little. You'll find tons of Disney links on his home page. And a bio too. Be prepared to see some nifty graphics.

Holly Claudia Slade

Okay, Holly is an Electrical Engineer and her masters degree research involved the integration of a low resistance evaporated ohmic contact into novel GaAs high frequency devices: planar Schottky diodes, integrated antennas, and laser devices...as far as I can figure out she builds lithium chrystals for the warpdrive on the Starship Enterprise. Just press beam me up, Holly. She knows karate too...I told you we Slades can do anything.

Michelle Slade

Michelle Slade hails from that wonderful land down under...Australia. Her interests are fashion and music. Ever wonder what time it is in Australia...just check her page.

Bob Slade

Bob is into being a disc jockey and configuration management. Config Management is the management of software development projects with respect to issues such as multiple developers working on the same code at the same time, targetting multiple platforms, supporting multiple versions, and controlling the status of code (for example beta test versus real release). Sounds simple, eh?

Rob Slade

Rob Slade is a data communications and security specialist from North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. But I won't tell you any more...just read his bio on his home page.

Robert Slade

Robert Slade is from the U.K. He's a research officer at the School of Mathematical Sciences. His thesis was on wave propogation in fluid saturated granular media. Oh...Okay. Maybe you and Claudia could get together and fix the hole in the ozone? Too Easy? How about my T.V. reception? You'll also find Robert's photography too, including pictures of American Football in the U.K.

Bad Jack Slade

A little bit of history here folks. Keith Slade, a librarian at Salt Lake Community College tells the tale: "There's Bad Jack Slade (Joseph Alfred Slade) who was hanged by vigilantes in Virginia City Montana. His body was preserved in alcohol in a metal casket and was on its way back East, but he ended up buried in Salt Lake City." I'll have to do a bit more research on this one. Hard to believe a Slade could turn out to be a bad apple, eh?

Gregory Robert Slade

Here's Greg's bio: "Gregory Robert Slade, living in Dunedin, New Zealand. Interests: Spearfishing, Scuba diving, skiing, Kayaking, enjoying life in general". A Slade with a good attitude! Isn't that refreshing? Cheer him on with a note.

The Robert Slades Page

A number of Robert Slades kept getting each others mail so they set up their own home page for...you guessed it...people with the name Robert Slade.

www.freenet.victoria.bc.ca/techrev/robslade.html

Other Slades

I've also found a variety of people with the first name Slade. What a great idea! I think I might call my first son, Slade Slade. Though I'm probably not as close to them genetically, spiritually I feel one with these First Name Slades. Say hi.

Slade Matthews

Slade is researching "The Application of Artificial Intelligence in Medical Predictions." I am dying to know what it's about...well, not literally, of course. Slade was once e-mailed by a guy named Slade Matthews in the US because he said he was the only other person named Slade Matthews in the World! They now e-mail each other every Xmas. If that isn't the Xmas spirit writ large, I don't know what is. If you want to visit his web site and read all about AI it's here.

Slaed Spiller

Slaed is from Seattle and he wins the prize for cool first name...it's almost Gaelic. He works at SAFECO, he grew up in Denver (home of the Avalanche), was Born 8-9-70. And he believes strongly that people should name their kids Slaed. Let's start a trend!

Slade Simon

Slade is a brilliant and humble internet master. Say hi to Slade. He has two pages of glorious...well Slade stuff!
